With July marking the 50th anniversary of the end of Southern Steam the General Steam Navigation team had a busy couple of weeks attending various events on the south coast. The first of these was the Watercress Lines "Summer Steam Gala" which was held over the first 2 weekends of July. The event saw 35006s first visit away from the GWSR and her first trip on Southern metals in over 50 years. The gala was a great success with the society selling lots of merchandise and memberships. The following weekend the society attended an event held by Eastleigh town council which saw Wadebridge being displayed in the center of the towns marketplace.
On the engineering front our machinist Ian commenced the machining our Klinger valve castings. Ian had previously machined the Klinger valves for 34059 "Sir Archibald Sinclair" and our whistle in June 2016. The valves will eventfully be fitted to the manifold we purchased late last year.
As always thank you for your continued support
